Iaconelli Remains the Leader of the Bassmaster Angler of the Year Race

Iaconelli finished 4th at the Bassmaster Capitol Clash on the Potomac River. Timing of the tournament may have affected the outcome, as many spectators were actually pre-fishing for a FLW Stren Series event which begins Wednesday August 16th. Iaconelli's win at last year's Chevy Open may have also made him a defacto favorite among those anglers.

Iaconelli had day 2 and 3 weights over 16lbs., and his 4th place finish helped him maintain his lead in the Angler-of-the-Year points race. Steve Kennedy, currenty in 2nd place in the AOY race, did manage to gain 5 points on Iaconelli, to move within 45 points. Rojas, VanDam, and Martens are all hovering around 100 points behind Iaconelli, none of whom were fishing the final day of the Capitol Clash.

Table Rock lake rounds out the Elite series schedule this year, and begins Sept 14th, 2006.
