Ike Fourth After Day 1 of Bassmaster Elite 50 on Lake Lewisville

Leading in the Bassmaster Elite 50 point race, going into the event, Ike posted a fourth place 15lb. 6oz. showing on day 1 at Lake Lewisville, TX. If Mike can hang on through tomorrow to remain in the top 12, he will have made the first cut in all three events so far this year.

As for his closest competitors for the Elite 50 Championship, Davy Hite finished day 1 in 9th place with 13lbs. 1oz., and Kevin VanDam finished 1st with an astounding 24lbs. 2oz., anchored by a 11lb. 13oz lunker. VanDam's catch gave him a commanding 7+lb. lead over his closest competitor after day 1, Edwin Evers.

Mike held a commanding lead after day 2 at Dardanelle. Assuming VanDam makes the cut, his early lead will not carry over into finals, as weights are reset after day 2 when the top 12 have been determined and the anglers begin fishing the 6 hole course the final two days. Davy Hite went on to win at Dardanelle, after Mike's early lead was zeroed after day 2.
