Iaconelli Finishes 6th on Oneida and Leads Northern Open Division

162 professionals competed last week at Oneida Lake, NY at the second 2013 Bass Pro Shops Northern Open. Mike Iaconelli, who has a history of crushing big smallies (see results below), was coming in off a couple of reasonable Elite Series finishes and a 3rd place Northern finish at the first Northern Open on the James River.

As you can see from the results above, Iaconelli crushed the smallmouth again at Oneida, to the tune of 46lbs. 14oz. over the three day tournament on the Small Berkley Havoc Devil Spear and Rapala DT 10 Ike's Custom Ink "Disco Shad" color. More impressive than another excellent tournament on Oneida is Iaconelli's record in Bass Pro Shops Open tournaments this year. Mike finished 8th in the Central Open on the Red River, where Ike narrowly missed a second Classic title in 2009. Mike went on to fish the first Northern Open on the James River, where he bested his 2011 Northern Open 4th place finish, with a 3rd place finish in June. Iaconelli's 6th place finish on Oneida makes 3 top 10s in a row in 2013 Bassmaster Opens, and put's Iaconelli in the lead of the points for the Northern Division, with 325, one point ahead of Wilkesboro NC's Tracy Adams.
