Iaconelli Finishes 3rd at Bassmaster Lake Murray Event
Iaconelli fished consistently on day 1 and 2, boating 26lbs. 15oz. for 7th place to handily make the top 50 cut. Iaconelli made his big move on Saturday with 16lbs. 6oz., moving him into 2nd place. Cloud cover and being on relatively more active fish had Mike culling fish early on Sunday.
At the weigh-in, it Davy Hite and Mike Iaconelli finished with the same total weight, the tie-breaker condition of highest single day weight gave Davy Hite a 1oz. tie-breaker advantage. Understandably, Iaconelli was disappointed, as soon would be local angler Davy Hite, who was hoping for a home town win on a lake where he's fished hundreds of events. Day 3 leader Casey Ashley came to the stage with a 15lb. 5 oz. bag, moving Davy Hite to 2nd place, and Mike ultimately finishing in 3rd.
The 3rd place finish on Lake Murray moved Iaconelli back up the AOY standings to 16th place, 199 points behind leader, and fellow Toyota Tundra angler Terry Scroggins.
