Iaconelli Looks to Achieve Second Bassmaster Goal
In a Bassmaster interview in 2003, at the end of the ESPN outdoors show covering the first International B.A.S.S. cup, Mike Iaconelli stated that his career goals were to win the Bassmaster Classic, and win Angler of the Year. Iaconelli went on to attain the first goal later in 2003, by winning his first Bassmaster Classic.
Now, in 2005, going into Table Rock, the final event in the Bassmaster Tour 'regular season', which determines the Angler of the Year, Mike Iaconelli sits in the #2 position, just below Marty Stone, and just ahead of Lake Norman winner, Edwin Evers. Only 30 points separate the top 5 anglers in contention for the title. Other top 10 anglers include Aaron Martens, Skeet Reese, Rick Clunn, and George Cochran.
"For me, it's the next logical thing I want," Iaconelli said. "I've been dreaming about it since I was a kid, 12 or 13 years old, so winning it would be awesome."
Iaconelli will be gunning for Angler of the Year March 31 - April 3, 2005 in Missouri.
