Today wasn’t about me… it was about the next generation.

I had the privilege of boat captaining Vegas and Max as they competed in the New Jersey B.A.S.S. Nation Junior State Championship on Manasquan Reservoir. As a dad and a coach, I can honestly tell you I was more nervous watching than I ever am competing myself!

These two stayed focused all day, made great decisions, and when it mattered most, they connected with two absolute giants to finish with an incredible 20 pounds, 5 ounces and punch their ticket to the Bass Nation Junior National Championship at Clarks Hill!

Watching these young anglers grow, compete under pressure, and accomplish a goal they’ve worked toward for years reminds me why I still love this sport after all these years. Fishing has always been about more than catching bass. It’s about passing knowledge on, building confidence, and watching the next generation chase their own dreams.

Congratulations again to Vegas and Max. Nationals, here we come!
