I Need 5 BIG Bites! | Bassmaster Kayak Susquehanna Day 1 Bass Fishing Video

Folks at home, I need FIVE BIG BITES!

We’re on the Upper Susquehanna River for Day 1 of the Bassmaster Kayak Series, and the mission is simple — I need five big smallmouth, 18 inches plus, if I’m going to have the kind of day I need.

The water is rising, the river is changing, and usually that rising water can get those BIG fish biting. But right from the start, things aren’t setting up the way I thought they would.

I’m looking at the grass thinking that’s where these fish SHOULD be… but they’re not there. They’re out away from it, relating to current, rock pushes, sand and subtle little breaks.

Slowly but surely, the puzzle starts coming together. That’s tournament fishing! You have to forget about what you THINK the fish should be doing and start listening to what they’re actually telling you.

And when the topwater starts getting crushed by Susquehanna smallmouth… things get interesting FAST!
