Top 4 February Baits | Don’t Rush Pre-Spawn Bass Fishing Video

Subscribe on YouTube

February is that weird month where you start to feel spring coming, but winter isn’t done with you yet. In this video, I break down my top 4 baits for February and explain how I fish them for that late-winter, almost-pre-spawn window — when bass are starting to eat more, but they’re still not ready to chase.

I split this one up for my North and South anglers, because February doesn’t look the same in New Jersey as it does in Florida or Texas. Up north, I’m going small and subtle with micro jigs and finesse shad plastics. Down south, I’m leaning on a suspending jerkbait and a lipless crankbait to cover water and trigger reaction bites without overdoing it.

If you’ve been itching to jump straight into spring patterns, this is your reminder to slow down and fish February like February. Try these four baits, pay attention to the warm days, the cold nights, and the little changes in water temp — and you’re going to catch more bass.
