Old school vs new school bass fishing… do you really need forward-facing sonar (FFS)?

I’m out on the water with Greg DiPalma and Vegas — they’re locked in on forward-facing sonar, watching fish and tracking them in real time. I’m in the back of the boat fishing a different way… no screen, just instincts, adjustments, and experience.

We’re fishing late winter / early pre-spawn conditions, targeting bass in mid-depth zones (6–8 feet) and rotating through jerkbaits, glide baits, jig and pig, and lipless crankbaits. This is all about finding bite windows, adjusting to pressured bass, and catching fish without relying on FFS.

If you’re into winter bass fishing, prespawn bass patterns, forward-facing sonar vs traditional fishing, finesse fishing, and bass fishing tips, this one’s for you.
