Rediscover a Forgotten Bass Fishing Gem: The Old School Grub! Bass Fishing Video

Hey everybody, Mike Iaconelli here, and welcome to a brand new "In the Shop" video! Today, we're diving deep into the crates to revisit a true classic – an old school, forgotten soft plastic that still catches a ton of bass: the grub.
You've heard us talk about ribbon tails and lizards, but the grub is a special bait that's been overlooked for too long. It's one of the first soft plastic baits I ever learned to fish as a kid, and it continues to be a reliable "panic box" lure for me when the bite gets tough. But don't let its humble appearance fool you – I've caught a ton of big bass on the grub too!
The rise of the boot tail swimbait (like the Berkley Power Swimmer) led many anglers to believe they had a more "modern" and superior alternative. While swimbaits are effective, the grub, in certain situations, will 100% outfish your traditional boot tail swimbait. We'll explore those situations in this video.
My personal preference, going all the way back to the 80s, is the Berkley Powerbait Power Grub, these days, I rig it on the Berkley Fusion19 Hybrid Jighead.
