Giant Lake Trout in New Jersey | Forward-Facing Sonar in Winter Bass Fishing Video

We made a long winter drive with my buddy Peter the Fish Traveler, chasing something most people don’t even believe exists—giant trout in New Jersey.
Peter’s the kind of angler who’s always willing to go the extra mile, fish uncomfortable conditions, and stay patient when the bite tests you mentally. That mindset mattered on a day like this. Cold water. Deep fish. Big marks on the screen. Lots of follows. Very few bites.
This was one of those days where you’re doing everything right, watching fish react in real time on Active Target, and still grinding HARD! Slow retrieves. Constant adjustments. Missed opportunities. A whole lot of never give up.
Then it happens.
A small color change. A little patience. One decision made at the right moment.
And finally—GIANT.
This video is all about winter trout fishing the hard way: fishing deep, trusting the process, reading fish behavior, and staying locked in until it finally comes together. Lake trout, salmon, bonus bass, and one fish that makes the entire grind worth it.
